Carl Dahlen

As Director of Legal and General Counsel of Foundation Automotive Corp., Carl is a member of the executive management team and is responsible for the company’s Canadian legal affairs. As Foreign Legal Advisor, Carl advises external U.S. counsel on Canadian legal matters and works closely with the U.S. executive team to formulate growth strategies and evaluate new ventures, mergers, acquisitions, strategic divestments, and capital raising initiatives that are compliant with applicable Canadian laws and consistent with the company’s policies.

Prior to joining the company, Carl was a member of the business law group at a leading Canadian law firm, McCarthy Tétrault LLP, where he maintained a corporate law practice focused on corporate finance and securities, mergers and acquisitions, and corporate governance and regulatory compliance. Carl has experience advising clients in a range of industries including automotive and has worked with companies at all stages of development, from private start-ups to publicly traded multinationals. During his time at McCarthy Tétrault, Carl served as external corporate counsel to Foundation and helped the company devise its equity growth strategy and complete each of its Canadian dealership acquisitions. Carl obtained his Juris Doctor from the University of Toronto and is a member of the Law Society of Alberta.
